The Poverty Bay Horticultural Society Summer Show 2009
Iris Section Results
The Poverty Bay Horticultural Society Summer Show was held on the weekend of the 7th & 8th November, 2009. The Iris Section was judged by Stephanie Boot of the Bay of Plenty Group of the New Zealand Iris Society.
Queen of the Show: Tall Bearded Iris Whats My Line Paul Black 2003 Exhibited by Anita Hall of Gisborne, A first time exhibitor in the Novice Section
Judges comments: Considering the recent extremes of weather in the region there was a very good showing in all the classes in the schedule, and most entries had stood up to the weather surprisingly well. There was a large number of entries in the Tall Bearded classes, and a very good number of Siberian irises entered in the Beardless classes, and most blooms were well presented. In some cases better presentation and staging would have improved the entrants chances. The iris which won Queen of the Show was a very well grown and presented stem of the cultivar. |
